09 Queensland State Singles Winner and local Tweed Heads Bowls Club lady who has impressed with her concentration, determination and practice routine, a dedicated bowler who has won many district titles and tournaments. Will be one to watch.

09 South Australian State Singles winner and state representative since 2006. Runner up in the 08 Under 35’s Singles title, Brett will benefit from playing in the class field and on the magnificent Tweed Heads greens.

Barbara is the 09 ACT Singles winner and also won the Prestige Pairs this year. A Club champion and top division pennant player, Barbara will enjoy the greens and atmosphere of the Golden Nugget and is one to watch.

09 Western Australian State Singles Winner, Brian will has a proven record in WA of top bowls and will be well supported back home. A tough section of State winners and Brian will looking at finishing in the top two and into the semi finals.

09 Western Australian State Singles winner and inaugural Australia Open singles winner in 2005. Won 2008 State singles and is undoubtedly WA’s best lady bowler with National representation on many occasions. Won Golden Nugget in 1998 and will be the hardest to beat.

09 Tasmanian State Singles Winner and Australian Silver squad member and rated as the top lady bowler in the Apple isle with a long history of national and state representation in the under 25’s squad.

Three time winner and defending champion Kelvin would dearly love to win again. Commonwealth Gold Medalist and World Indoor Pairs Champion Kelvin is a crowd favourite but no male bowler has ever won consecutive Golden Nugget titles. Maybe this year it’s different but it’s tough as always. Kelvin won the Tweed Prestige singles in July

2008 Australia Indoor runner up and State Skipper for many years. Therese won the State Singles titles for 3 consecutive years 2004, 05, 06 and won the WA State Triples and fours this year. Inform player and will finish close to top of her section.

International bowler for many years and Australian Open Singles runner up this year, Kay is a Commonwealth Games silver medalist and has won Australian Grand Prix events in NSW and New Zealand – will be hard to beat

Made history winning Back to back Victorian Champion of Champion Singles titles this year. Current State Skipper with potential to finish in the top two in this section and into the semi finals

08 World Pairs Gold Medalist, Jo performed well in Golden Nugget last year and should go close this year. A top international player for many years and will be a big chance to finish on top in this section. A crowd favourite and will start favourite for a semi final berth.

09 Tweed Prestige Singles semi finalist Hec was beaten by the eventual winner Kelvin Kerkow by one shot on the last bowl. A great effort to win six matches and will have crowd support from the locals.

Ann Maree has won the wildcard for the second consecutive year. Her experience in playing in 2008 will hold her in good stead this year and look for a few upsets. Will have good crowd support.
